- Project: Tattoo Book Trailer
- Type: Video Production
- Role: Writer, Producer, Director
I created a book trailer for the novel Tattoo, which required finding locations in modern-day Melbourne that could convincingly represent 1960s USA. This involved a meticulous selection process to ensure the authenticity and aesthetic of the era were captured.
Objectives
The primary objective of the book trailer was to build awareness and drive sales for the novel. By creating an engaging and visually striking trailer, I aimed to captivate potential readers and generate interest in the book.
Execution
Location Scouting and Production: The project involved a six-day shoot across multiple locations in Melbourne. Each location was carefully chosen to reflect the look and feel of 1960s USA, adding depth and realism to the trailer.
Content Creation: As the writer, producer, and director, I oversaw all aspects of the trailer’s production. This included scriptwriting, coordinating the shoot, directing the actors, production design, costume design, and ensuring that the final product aligned with the novel’s themes and tone.
Marketing and Distribution: The trailer was strategically released to maximise visibility and engagement. Leveraging social media and book marketing channels, the trailer reached a wide audience, driving interest and sales for the novel.
Outcomes
The book trailer for Tattoo achieved significant success:
- Views and Engagement: The trailer garnered thousands of views, significantly increasing the novel’s visibility.
- Direct Sales: There was a notable increase in book sales directly attributed to viewers of the trailer.
- Accolades: The trailer was nominated for a Golden Trailer award, standing alongside esteemed companies like HarperCollins. This recognition highlighted the quality and impact of the trailer within the industry.
